00:00Alright, the fights to make, coming out of UFC 306, Noche UFC, at the Sphere.
00:14Mirob Davalishvili, you are the new UFC bantamweight champion.
00:17Congratulations, you get Umar Nurmagomedov.
00:21Nurmagomedov won that title eliminator earlier this year, and is the deserving next in line.
00:27They hyped it up at the pay-per-view.
00:28So, why not?
00:30I think that has to be the fight.
00:32Honestly, I don't know who else the challenger would be.
00:35O'Malley didn't come close in that fight to earning an immediate rematch, so that's a no.
00:40And there's no one else even in that ballpark right now, so that is a no for me.
00:46Sean O'Malley against Corey Sandhagen is, I think, what should be next for Sean O'Malley.
00:53I think it would be a wild fight, both of them coming off of losses in some very big
00:57fights.
00:58O'Malley, obviously, losing in this most recent one against Mirob, while Sandhagen lost his
01:06bout to Nurmagomedov, that title eliminator.
01:10And so I think that is a fight that you absolutely could make, and I think it would kind of bounce
01:17some things back a little bit, and kind of rehab the image, I think, of Sean O'Malley.
01:26As Dana White has kind of shit on him a little bit coming out of this fight, and I think
01:31that would be a good way to kind of build him back up, because this would be a very
01:34fun fight, and I think you would get a… a title challenger might be a bit of a stretch,
01:39but reestablish a contender anyway, at 135 pounds.
01:47Moving on.
01:48Valentina Shevchenko.
01:49She is the champion again.
01:50I know that her rivalry right now with Alexa Grasso is 1-1-1.
01:54I would not do that.
01:56I think that this was such a one-sided beatdown, and such a dominant performance, that I think
02:03you have to kind of separate Grasso from this one a little bit now.
02:08And so, I do think that this is an opportunity to let some other fighters kind of get into
02:16this one.
02:17And so I would go, um, apologies for the pronunciation, but Menon Fioro.
02:22She's on a 12 fight winning streak, she is coming off of wins over Aaron Blanchfield
02:25and Rose Namajunas.
02:26She has been one of the, like, real up-and-comers here for a little bit, and getting an opportunity
02:32now to really shine.
02:34She's beat everyone, it is just so clearly the next option for her is a title opportunity
02:40here.
02:41And like Shevchenko, it's a fresh fight that she hasn't had in a couple of years,
02:43so that'll be fun.
02:45And then, Alexa Grasso, I have her against Macy Barber.
02:48Barber is finally starting to reach her potential, and I really do think that she is someone
02:57who could make some noise and be a bit of a star going forward a little bit.
03:03So I do think that this is an interesting fight for her, and kind of like, okay, you
03:09have Grasso coming off of a disappointing performance in the main event, or in the co-main
03:16event there, against Shevchenko.
03:19You have Barber, who is kind of on the rise.
03:21These two fought back in 2001, and so this is an opportunity to see either, okay, what
03:26has Grasso learned, and like, can she bounce back, or what has Barber learned?
03:33How does she develop, and is she now ready for this championship opportunity?
03:39And so, I do think that that is going to be an interesting bout, and one that I would
03:43absolutely make going forward.
03:47We have Diego Lopez against Max Holloway, or Ilya Tepuria, the winner of that.
03:51Lopez deserves a title shot.
03:53I think coming out of that, he has absolutely earned it.
03:55He's ready for a title shot.
03:56That was a beatdown of a guy who was in the top three.
03:59He has put on some unbelievable finishes, and some unbelievable fights, and so I think
04:04that this is now the time for him to get going, and for him to get this championship opportunity.
04:10So, Tepuria and Holloway, they're going to throw it down coming up here, but I do think
04:18that the winner gets Diego Lopez.
04:20And for Brian Ortega, this is where the UFC model stumbles a little bit.
04:25Ortega has been in some absolute just battles the last few years.
04:31He could probably use a tune-up fight, right?
04:33Like this is one, we talked about it with Izzy a little bit ago.
04:36You could probably use a fight where it's like, you know what?
04:38This isn't against a top ten guy.
04:40It's still, like, it's fighting, it's still brain damage, it's whatever, but I kind of
04:44just need a get-right here, and let's just see where I'm at.
04:46And if I lose that, then oh shit, we're in trouble.
04:49The UFC doesn't work that way.
04:50If you're in the top, you fight the top.
04:52You know?
04:53There are no tune-up fights, or anything like that.
04:55And so, I have him against Jairo Rodriguez.
04:58They've each fought, they've fought each other twice, each have won one, so let's trilogy
05:02this thing up.
05:03I would anticipate that not going well for Ortega, which kind of sucks for him, but I
05:06do think that that is the most logical way to come out of this fight card here from the
05:12weekend.
05:13Alright, for those of you who are joining us live, A, you guys have been amazing.
05:18Thank you guys so much.
05:19I have loved every little bit of it.
05:21We're now over 100 followers out of 101, which I greatly appreciate.
05:25Thank you guys so much for that.
05:27I want to be a little bit more interactive with these going forward, so A, if you have
05:30any tips, let me know.
05:32Because Deeds and Toxic will let you know.
05:35I'm kind of flying by the seat of my pants on all of these, and trying to learn all of
05:38this shit on the fly.
05:41And so, any tips or anything like that, by all means, let me know.
05:44Also, I do do actual video games on here on Mondays and Wednesdays, and so for Monday,
05:50I want to know what you guys want to see me play.
05:52We have a Flames rebuild going on right now, we have a WWE 2K24 MyGM, and we're trying
05:57to turn the Blue Jays into a dynasty.
05:59Also, we just talked a whole lot of boxing, and I have Fight Night Round 3, and this will...
06:03I need to figure out if my hookups still work for all of those, and this would motivate
06:08me if we picked that one.
06:10So, a few choices to roll with here so far.
06:14Yes, Bunk 100% addicted to MyGM.
06:19They made some tweaks that I didn't love, but overall, it is still...
06:22I could play that thing for hours.
06:25Again, Toxic and Deeds, and Big John, when he's in the chat, they can all attest.
06:29I kind of get lost in it a little bit, and then all of a sudden, an hour and a half have
06:32gone by.
06:33It's like, oh, well, I had other things to do today.
06:35So if that one wins out, absolutely happy to do it.
06:39Sakuragi himself.
06:40Prediction?
06:41Jon Bones Jones against Stipe Miocic.
06:44I think you have to go with Jon Jones there.
06:48I think if both guys were fighting in their prime, it would still be Jon Jones.
06:51But because of the layoff by the time this fight gets to November, if we actually have
06:55it, then I just think it's so far out for Stipe to then have to step back in against
07:01the most talented fighter this board has ever seen.
07:04It's just too much.
07:05It is far too much to ask of Stipe Miocic.
07:09So I will go Jonny Bones Jones there, and then I will pick Tom Aspinall to just absolutely
07:16destroy Jon Jones after that.
07:18So that would be my predictions there.
07:22Also, Larry Merchant was so making criticisms on Floyd while he took some respect and praise
07:28on Manny Pacquiao in the 2000s.
07:29Oh yeah.
07:30They had their favorites, for sure.
07:32And as, like, the Money Mayweather was really interesting.
07:38Because there was a bit there, like, he was the most exciting guy in the sport.
07:42Right?
07:43Like, he was out there and he was just blasting guys and he was coming up with big wins and
07:46all of this.
07:47And I realized, you know, I might be, like, the best defensive fighter ever in the sport.
07:52Or at least, like, top five.
07:54And it's a whole lot better when I just don't get punched in the head.
07:57So if I can just do that and just win enough rounds, then hey, look at this.
08:00I'm still making a bajillion dollars, and I also am, you know, not taking all that brain
08:08damage.
08:09So he kind of recognized that.
08:10But I do think there was a little bit of... hostility might be a bit of a strong word,
08:15but a sour taste in HBO Boxing's mouth coming off of that one.
08:20Okay.
08:21We're gonna wrap up the show here.
08:22There's a couple of boxing cards coming up here this weekend, so we're gonna wrap up
08:26the show looking at them.
08:27But Sakuragi, again, asking Alex Pereira vs. Roundtree.
08:30Your predictions.
08:31I think Pereira wins it within a round.
08:33I think he is so superior to Khalil Roundtree.
08:38The two are not in the same universe.
08:41This feels like... and look, I like Roundtree.
08:44He was an Ultimate Fighter guy, right?
08:45I watched him on The Ultimate Fighter and really enjoyed him.
08:48I was one of like eight people who watched that season still.
08:50But um... so I like Roundtree.
08:53He is not in this level.
08:54Not even close to this level.
08:55I think Pereira ends this fight as soon as he wants to, basically.
09:01And puts Khalil Roundtree away.
09:02So I think that that is within a round.
09:05Also, it's interesting you bring up the heavyweights, and then Pereira.
09:08Let's get this guy a heavyweight fight.
09:11This man is, to steal a Brian Campbell term, daring to be great.
09:15Why are we denying him that opportunity?
09:17I don't even think we should care who that heavyweight is.
09:22This could be Anderson Silva against Sandman Irving.
09:26Where it's just like, yeah, doesn't need to be a top ten guy.
09:28Just let him do it.
09:29Let's just see it.
09:30Let's just have Pereira against Tai Tuivasa and just figure it out that way.
09:36And so, I don't get why we aren't allowing him to do that.
09:44And so I think it is fitting that you kind of bring them both up.
09:46I think Pereira against a Jon Jones would be a whole lot of fun.
09:51And I think that a Pereira against any heavyweight would be interesting as he goes to be the
09:56first guy ever to have three different, or championships in three different weight classes
10:00in the UFC.
