00:00Residents who live at the foot of Vulcan Canlaon were called for help

00:04because their vegetables were damaged and can no longer be used.

00:09They were stuck in an ashfall and there was a typhoon.

00:12Ryan Lesigel has the details.

00:22after the ashfall hit Vulcan Canlaon

00:25and the next typhoon cut off their crops.

00:29Valentin looks at his vegetables almost every day

00:33in the hope that he can still save something.

00:36He hopes that in November of this year, he will harvest it.

00:39But in the market of Abu Mula in Vulcan,

00:42he can no longer sell a single cabbage.

00:44From the 60,000 seedlings,

00:47he hopes to earn 250,000 to 300,000 pesos.

00:53But because of bad luck,

00:55the person who was supposed to earn money became a farmer.

00:58So maybe, dear President,

02:06According to the City Agriculture Office,

02:09five barangays in Paana ng Vulcan are the most affected.

02:13This includes Mala Iba, Pula, Masulog, Lumapaw, and Linuthangan.

02:18Of the more than 123 hectares of plantations,

02:23vegetables were destroyed because of the ash fall.

02:26There are now 240 plantations that are affected.

02:31Aside from the vegetables planted,

02:33there is also widespread flooding

02:35caused by the typhoons in the rice plantations.

02:38According to city agriculturist Andrea Canoy,

02:41based on their initial assessment,

02:43more than 1,600 hectares of rice were affected by the typhoon.

02:49This is equivalent to more than 1,500 plantations that were affected.

02:53Most of these are in the vegetative, reproductive, and maturity stage.

02:59The damage caused by the typhoon was up to 2 million pesos.

03:03Canoy assured that the affected plantations

03:07were affected by the typhoon and other calamities.

03:11Almost all farmers have insurance

03:15so they can get financial assistance

03:18from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation or PCIC.

03:22Under PCIC, it is a cash or check-in form

03:28for the indemnity due to the loss of the maize.

03:39Aside from receiving financial assistance from PCIC,
