00:00What's it like having a daughter in middle school now, a preteen? Is it harder or easier than you

00:05imagined? As a preteen, I'm holding on to this last year of elementary school. She goes into

00:10middle school next year, and I know it's a whole new world. But it changes overnight. I mean,

00:17all of a sudden, doing our hair in the morning is really important. Our outfit of the day,

00:23what we're going to wear, all this stuff. It's actually really cute, though. It's been really

00:28amazing to watch her turn more into this preteen part of herself. She's learning what is it that

00:36she likes, and what kind of fashion is she drawn to. Watching her identity and starting to watch

00:42her change, it's been really cute. She's so sweet, and I love seeing what she's drawn to.

00:49The TV shows she's drawn to, the characters within the TV shows that she's drawn to,

00:54tells me a lot about her. She generally likes really empowered girls in these shows,

01:02and strong girls. I love that about her. Does she love The Rookie?

01:08It's funny. We just started watching it because they had all these 10-year-olds coming up to me

01:13and saying, I love The Rookie. I said, oh gosh, I guess I shouldn't be letting Evie watch this.

01:18Because in my head, The Rookie can have really intense action scenes, and

01:22there's shootouts, and there's this. I thought, this is part of her evolving and changing. I was

01:28like, oh, I guess she could be able to watch this now. We watched the episode where I get stuck into

01:37this tank that starts filling up with water. I almost drown, this whole thing. Maybe that wasn't

01:43the best first episode to show her. She was really scared. She's like, mom, what's going to happen?

01:50I was like, well, it's a nail-biter. It's supposed to be very susky or trilingual. I was like, but

01:56I'm fine. I'm fine. I film other episodes after this. It's going to be okay. After that, she loved

02:02it. She's like, this is so good, but mom, that was really scary. That's so funny. She's gotten

02:07into it, but it took me a while to realize, oh, she can watch this show now.
