00:00Boach, I probably put too much on Wyatt Lankford to be spectacular this year right out of college
00:21pretty much.
00:22But in the month of September, he's hitting 345.
00:25He already has 11 extra base hits.
00:27He has an OPS over one.
00:30What have you seen as the season has progressed, and then especially here at the end of the
00:35season, that is starting to turn Wyatt Lankford maybe into the superstar potential that everybody
00:43saw at Florida and then after that minor league season last year?
00:48Yeah, I think the expectations on this guy, sure, they were high, I think now they probably
00:56should be number one pick, and that's going to go with the territory, but you have to
01:02look at a guy that had a little bit of minor league time and his first year facing major
01:09league pitching, you're who you are, that's a tough deal.
01:14And so we knew there would be growing pains, but we needed him, and so that's why he made
01:21our club out of spring training.
01:23And what's impressive is how much better he just continues to get, and as you mentioned
01:30this month, and not just his offense, but his defense, I mean, the things he's doing
01:37right now, they are incredible.
01:40You saw the home run last night to right field, just watching his batting practice, you just
01:45see the growth in this guy, and I felt that all along.
01:50He hasn't come close to seeing the best of Wyatt Langford, and two reasons, one, yeah,
01:57he's gifted as a talent, but he's hungry, nobody works harder in this club than he does,
02:06so it's only going to get better with him, and he has the whole game, he can run, he
02:10can throw, hit, I mean, he's, so we're pretty lucky to have him available when we
02:20picked last year, and we were very excited when that happened, and what a great signing
02:26course.
02:27I know this is a huge number, Boach, but do you think that he could be a potential 40
02:31home run guy a year?
02:34Oh, I think he could, yeah.
02:38I don't think, you know, right now, that's something he's probably thinking of, I'm just
02:48saying, he's more of a gat guy, but now you're seeing the power, and like I talked about
02:55earlier with the batting practice, where he's hitting balls, and so I could see him hitting
03:0140 at some point, yeah, he's got the strength, and he's just going to get smarter as a hitter,
03:06and he's going to get more knowledge on his pitchers, and so the home runs, they're going
03:11to increase as they are now, so yeah, and I wouldn't be, don't put it past him to be
03:18a 30 or 40 stolen base guy.
