00:00Chapter 6. The Prophet's Marriage
00:05Lady Khadija, a well-known businesswoman in Mecca,
00:09was looking for a knowledgeable and trustworthy man to lead her trading caravan to other cities.
00:15Abu Talib suggested to the Prophet to work for Lady Khadija, and he accepted.
00:21After the Prophet began working for Lady Khadija,
00:24she too witnessed the honesty and reliability of the Prophet.
00:28For which she was famous in society,
00:30she had appointed her slave to accompany the Prophet on his business trips.
00:34Her slave would share with Lady Khadija his observations of the Prophet,
00:39which caused Lady Khadija to admire the Prophet's character.
00:42Lady Khadija then sent someone to inform the Prophet about her interest in him,
00:46and proposed marriage.
00:54When the Prophet decided to marry Lady Khadija,
00:57he informed his uncle Abu Talib about his decision,
01:00and asked him to propose to her on his behalf.
01:03Abu Talib, as an elder and the Prophet's guardian,
01:06happily proposed this marriage by delivering a powerful sermon.
01:09Unlike the Arabs who would begin their speech with the names of their idols,
01:13Abu Talib praised God, and proudly mentioned his forefathers,
01:17Prophets Ibrahim and Ishmael.
01:20He then praised the Prophet,
01:22saying that no other man is comparable to his nephew Muhammad,
01:25and he is better than everyone.
01:27He concluded his sermon with a sentence that showed his knowledge
01:30of the upcoming prophethood of his nephew.
01:32He swore by God that there will indeed be great news
01:36and elevated status for Muhammad in the future.
01:39Abu Talib also sacrificed a camel,
01:42and provided a feast for the guest in the Prophet's wedding.
01:50The Prophet is alive!
