00:00Rise of the Tomb Raider is a big fan of Metroidvania level design in that it only lets you break

00:05through certain doors or access certain ledges once you've gained a new piece of equipment

00:09from somewhere else in the game.

00:11But unlike most games of its ilk, it's entirely possible to finish the whole story without

00:16picking up some key bits of this special equipment.

00:19Case in point, the reinforced blade.

00:22Here's how to get it.

00:23There are actually two ways to get the reinforced blade.

00:26The first way presents itself during the main story and opens up some more possibilities

00:30on the map, so we'll take a look at that first.

00:33Once you reach Petiti, you'll find it as part of a side quest called Stay of Execution.

00:38This is triggered once Etsy tells you about Hakann being taken prisoner, which automatically

00:42happens as you go through the main quest.

00:44There's one more thing.

00:46Hakann has been captured.

00:48He's my friend Kiara's dad.

00:52If he's sacrificed...

00:57To start it, you'll need to speak to Kiara in the upper city, who can be found sitting

01:01on some steps right about here.

01:04She then gives you the quest to go and save her father Hakann, who is indeed being held

01:08prisoner.

01:09The sequence needed to rescue her father is simple.

01:13After travelling to this area and speaking to the people with cogs above their heads

01:16to make sure they're in, you need to ask this person to call the prayer horn, then

01:21go over to the musicians and get them to start playing.

01:24Now swiftly, as the window is quite tight here, ask the two men here and here to help

01:29you open the door.

01:31The rest is easy and the knife is yours.

01:46The second way to get the reinforced knife is to reinforce your existing blade by going

01:50to the market in Petiti.

01:52This is where an upgrade service is available for sale for 2,900 gold from this merchant.

01:58If you have the standard knife, upgrading it will now give you the ability to break

02:01through reinforced, knife-locked doors.

02:04But if you already have the reinforced knife from saving Hakann, it not only means that

02:08you take more resources from animals you skin, but it also has this nice little bonus of

02:13giving you a Crocodile Dundee referencing achievement.
