00:00The Senate approved the proposed budget for the next year of the Department of Science and Technology, or DOST,

00:08along with their attached agencies.

00:11DOST Secretary Renato Solidum confirmed that artificial intelligence, or AI,

00:18will be used for their weather forecasting.

00:21They said that it will make it faster to give information to the public.

00:26Solidum added that using AI, the current 5-day weather forecast for rain will be 14-days.

00:37So instead of every 3 hours computation, our target is every 15 minutes,

00:44so that it can be provided to the public.

00:47We have a lot of upsides, but it has to be done at the warning level and action level.

00:54People should be informed. It's a matter of informing them, your honors, with due respect.

01:00So, as early as before the typhoons come, or even under detectable weather patterns,

01:07like you said, Habagat and Amian, we can tell them that there will be heavy rainfall.
