DJ Khaled caught up with Billboard’s Kyle Denis on the red carpet of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

00:02God, it's great, man. I'm excited. My brother Joe Crack is dropping a new record tonight.

00:06Performing at the VMAs, he's featuring me and Anita.

00:09Just to be able to come to the VMAs is always exciting.

00:12And to see the fans and, you know, my kids get to watch it from home.

00:15So I'm excited for them to see Daddy on stage.

00:18But I'm excited for my brother Joey Crack. He got a new record called Paradise.

00:22It feels good, the energy's good.

00:24It got the queen of Brazil on there, Anita.

00:27Shout out to Stevie B, you know what I mean?

00:29We flipped that Stevie B vibe, that spring love, you know what I mean?

00:33Stevie B, he in the building somewhere, too.

00:35And a shout out to everybody, man.

00:37Just everybody that's supporting.

00:40Because the record's coming out tonight, but we let snippets go.

00:44And the energy already just feels good, you know what I'm saying?

00:48This is like a star-studded collaboration. How did that one come together?

00:51I mean, I had this record for my album, and Joe's been wanting it for a while.

00:56And I had it sitting there, and I've been cooking on my new album,

01:00and it's coming out phenomenal.

01:06Listen, I'm going to be real with you.

01:08There's only two people that can pull off what I'm doing on my album.

01:12It's God, and I'm blessed from God to pull it off.

01:18So, you know, it's always God did.

01:22But I'll explain later when I give you the new title of the album

01:25and when you hear the music.

01:33No, it's my 14th album. No, I'm not playing.

01:36Because it's needed. It's needed.

01:39And I'm going to bring that great energy, that good energy, them anthems.

01:43I'm going to bring us together, and it's going to be good vibes.

01:52In the summer, what song absolutely ruled your world?

01:57In the summer.

01:59For me, it's a lot of records that was popping, and it's big.

02:05But to be honest with you, man, you know, I've been on my Bob Marley,

02:10Booju Banton, Blueprint, Black Album.

02:16I've been on my classic.

02:18No, all the hot music that came out is incredible.

02:21And for me, because I've been like bobbing just all of my classic crate, right?

02:27And there's certain records I just listen to, especially when I'm in creative,

02:31you know, making my album, I want to catch a certain feeling,

02:35and I've been catching that feeling with like my vintage crate

02:39that I always go to, you know what I mean?

02:41Like the Blueprint, the Black Album, Bob Marley, Booju Banton,

02:46a close one, I had a close one yesterday,

02:50Ja Gimme Strength, some Garnet Silk.

02:53I know you expected me to say, but these are the type of records,

02:57when I say expect me to say other records, these are the type of records

03:00that I listen to every day.

03:02But everybody that put a record out this summer has been incredible.

03:06I'll tell you what, the answer made me even more hyped for your album, man.
