Better known for hosting multiplayer games like Halo and Black Myth Wukong, Steam Deck has now found new use in the Ukraine conflict .

Ukrainian military engineers are connecting gun turrets to Steam Deck, and firing off shots at a distance with no risk to troops on the ground.

Army chiefs say the new ‘robots on the front line’ are saving lives, without compromising weaponry.

00:10use for Ukrainian forces on the battlefield. Military engineers have found a way to connect
00:16Steam Deck to the turret platforms from which guns are fired. It means that bullets can be
00:22remotely targeted at an enemy up to three kilometers away without any threat to troops
00:27on the ground. In this video, the Ukraine military calls the system one of the first
00:32robots on the front line, claiming it can destroy 100 occupiers monthly. Helped by thermal imaging
00:39and a wide-field camera, it's deploying some of the most powerful machine guns being used
00:44in the conflict. In a campaign that's been dominated by the use of drones and other robotics,
00:50Ukraine's military claims its adaption to Steam Deck is saving a huge number of lives
00:56without compromising the effectiveness of its weaponry.
