00:00More injuries to take a look at the NFL and when do we not look at that practice report

00:10We expected Christian McCaffrey to take the snaps opening night versus the New York Jets.

00:16The question was how many snaps would he actually take?

00:22And now we don't know when Christian McCaffrey is coming back here due to Achilles tendonitis,

00:26which Kyle Shanahan brought up yesterday.

00:28Now, the one good thing you can say is if maybe one of the best players in the league

00:32is not going to be available for a couple of weeks is have your backup running back

00:36Jordan Mason go 28 carries 147 yards and score a touchdown in your decimation of a very good

00:44New York Jets defense, 32 to 19.

00:46So let's start there.

00:47How surprised we dubs he getting ready for that football game.

00:51And all of a sudden, every big beat reported in the NFL is going, you know what?

00:55In active reports, here comes Christian McCaffrey.

00:58He's not playing.

00:59Donnie, you mentioned two running backs there for the 49ers, Christian McCaffrey and Jordan

01:04I had one of them as my number one pick going into this year's draft for my fantasy football

01:09lineup and I started him and he didn't play CMC.

01:12I mean, this was an absolute shock for Mike.

01:14We knew that he was battling injury going through the preseason leading in to week one,

01:18but we didn't know he was going to be a game time scratch there.

01:21But hey, I mean, every, every loss is someone else's opportunity.

01:25So Jordan Mason, he steps up and gets it done.

01:27But Jordan Mason telling the media after that game that he actually knew about starting

01:32on Friday night, but we didn't.

01:34So that was a tough one for me to swallow.

01:36But for the 49ers, look, this is a really, you know, sensitive injury for Christian McCaffrey,

01:40especially when you're expecting so much production.

01:43But it's early in the season and for Kyle Shanahan, if they didn't know what they've

01:47got in Jordan Mason, well, now you know.

01:49So why would you have that pressure of trying to rush Christian McCaffrey back for week

01:53two going against the Vikings?

01:55So certainly one thing to note and monitor as we move through a very long and treacherous

02:00season here for San Francisco is just keeping eyes on Christian McCaffrey.

02:04Do we see a bit of a drop off in that production, in that role out of the backfield?

02:09I think we likely will.

02:10Maybe, you know, getting a bit of a pitch count, if you will, once he does get back

02:14in the mix there.

02:15But no surprises.

02:16I don't expect to see him out there in week two, unless not in a full capacity as well,

02:20especially after what a showing Jordan Mason put together there for Monday Night Football.
