Germany has announced that it's implementing new border checks for the next six months to curb the influx of illegal migrants. Which other countries within the Schengen Area are doing the same and why?

00:33Denmark and Norway tightened controls in their ports connected to Schengen.

00:39Elsewhere in Scandinavia, Sweden is now also carrying out checks on all of its borders.

00:48This trend is driven by the increasingly tense geopolitical scenario and related terrorist threats and hate crimes,

00:55as well as by security for major sporting events that recently took place,

01:00like Euro 2024, the Olympics and the Paralympics.

01:05They prompted France and Slovenia to reinforce their border security in the summer and autumn.
