00:00Chief Constable, you've just made it out of the deluge here at the garden party.

00:05Can you tell me a little bit about how your day has gone here?

00:08Well, it's an absolutely fabulous event.

00:11I have to say the setting is incredible with the house behind us and the gardens behind you.

00:16And this is a way of saying thank you to all the people who do so much to make Northern Ireland such a great place to live.

00:22So it's full of people who we are a thank you to.

00:26And it's nice to see so many people here having a wonderful time.

00:30So these events are very good and special events.

00:33And I bumped into four or five of your officers as well who were invited here today

00:37and I think they had been involved in defending public property during some of the recent street disturbance as well.

00:44So they were getting a little bit of recognition as well, isn't that right?

00:47Yeah, listen, we've had officers of all ranks here and members of staff.

00:51And importantly, we've also had a number of people who were impacted, who were victims of that damage,

00:56who were victims of that hateful behaviour.

00:59So they've been here to understand and know that Northern Ireland is an incredibly special place

01:05and they're very welcome here, they're part of society here

01:08and they add huge value to all of what Northern Ireland's good for,

01:14which is people looking after each other and having, you know, a place to live where we care about each other.
