Dust devil engulfs man filming in intense video

Intense video captured a powerful dust devil swirling up and sending man's hard hat flying.

Javier Melendez, 22, was working as an assistant production technician in Marion, Texas, USA, in August when a whirlpool of dust kicked up.

Video shows Javier being engulfed by the dust devil and his hard hat flying off with debris flying all around it.

Javier said: "My first reaction to seeing everything fly around was just in shock.

"It felt like I was in a movie.

"When the dust devil touched down and came towards me I immediately covered my face and just hoped for the best.

"I could feel little pieces of metal and rocks through my jumper.

"It yanked my hard hat off like it was a wig.

"I had sand and trash in my jumper and all in my hair after it passed by."
