00:05approved this September 8th the resolution of the reform to the judicial power.
00:09After six hours of debate, the resolution received 25 votes in favor and 12 against.
00:15The reform was promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador
00:19and seeks to have judges, magistrates and ministers elected by popular vote.
00:23The project has generated strong resistance because it would completely modify the judicial power.
00:29It establishes that ministers of the Supreme Court, members of the Council of the Federal Judiciary,
00:34magistrates of the Federal Electoral Tribunal and district judges would be appointed in open elections.
00:40The following step is to the resolution to be discussed in the full Senate.
