Idris Elba 'work begins now' to tackle knife crime

Sir Keir Starmer has promised action to tackle the online sale of deadly weapons as he hosted a summit with knife crime campaigners including Luther star Idris Elba and victims’ families. The Hollywood actor, who met Sir Keir during the election campaign to push for action on knife crime, said it was important there was a coalition of interests involved in the first summit, which is expected to become an annual event. 00:19What's next is, you know, today was identifying some of the low-hanging fruit that can be

00:25actioned quickly, right, things around, you know, accessibility on knives,

00:31online sales and things like that. These things take time to actually get into law,

00:37but today was really about how do we get to them quicker and so our next step is to aggregate the

00:44thoughts that we've had today, we've got a point of contact and that person will be

00:50aggregating those action points and then those involved in those action points will be there

00:55to get them done. The Prime Minister, by the way, is super, super keen to just keep pushing

01:00and that's what we've seen, so it's been good.
