Hyderabad Pakistan is a historical City. In 1856 Sir Cowasji Jahangir a philanthropist engineer, established an asylum for mentally handicapped people was before the discovery of psychiatry as a discipline. Afterwards when mental conditions were reckoned as illnesses, the asylum acquired the status of a govt psychiatric hospital and overtime changed and now the more than 150 years old asylum is State-of-the-Art Autonomous Institute of Behavioral Science by act of parliament. It is a great leap forward from a monodisciplinary facility to Multi-disciplinary Mental Health Institute with two Universities affiliated. Already the institute is recognized for fellowship training. The founding CEO Dr. Aijaz Qadir Patoli engaged the Sir C.J. Institute of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences with Scotland Psychiatric Hospital for twinning under Global Citizenship Program of NHS for capacity building in Forensic Psychiatry span over 2 years. Moreover the efforts in areas of multidisciplinary case teams with community and chairs of Clinical Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Public Mental Health are underway. More, a EHR is established which will be further developed into a comprehensive model utilizing automation including Machine Learning, will be utilized as a an important tool quality care, monitoring and evaluation for the ultimate personalized recovery of people with mental illness experiences. In addition, special focus on Substance Use orders and Suicidal tendencies has necessitated the development of informal mental health councilors. Collaborative Research & Development will generate local evidence for contextualized interventions.
