Father of teen suspected of killing four at Georgia school arrested

Georgia state officials arrested the father of 14-year-old suspected school shooter Colt Gray on Thursday (Sept 5) in connection with Wednesday's shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, which left four dead and nine injured.  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that 54-year-old Colin Gray has been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children. 00:59The FBI revealed that both Grays had been questioned by local authorities in Jackson

01:03County last year regarding an online threat of a school shooting.

01:08However, at that time, there was no probable cause for arrest.

01:12During the 2023 investigation, Colin Gray admitted to having hunting guns in the home

01:18but claimed his son had no unsupervised access to them while Colt denied making the threats.

01:24According to state and Barrow County investigators, Colt Gray used an AR platform-style weapon,

01:30or semi-automatic rifle, to carry out the attack, which claimed the lives of two teachers

01:35and two 14-year-old students.

01:38It remains unclear how he obtained the firearm.

01:42Authorities have not yet commented on the potential motive for what marks the first

01:45U.S. school mass shooting since the start of the academic year.
