Turkey Waits By The Window Every Day When Dad Comes Home

Turkey climbs onto the kitchen counter every evening and waits by the window for Dad to come home from work ❤️ We spoke to Jim and Lisa about how this wild turkey decided to become part of their family!

00:00She'll hang out by the window around the time Jimmy comes home from work.

00:05Is Daddy home?

00:08Whoa!

00:10I get a better greeting from her than the dog sometimes.

00:13You haven't whooped for Daddy in a week!

00:18Crazy bird.

00:20At the end of a long day, to be able to come home and have Pepper literally waiting for me to walk through the door is pretty cool.

00:26There's a turkey on my couch.

00:30What are you guys making for breakfast?

00:33She has a lot of those same tendencies as cats do.

00:36Good job.

00:39She just wants to be right in the middle of whatever I'm doing.

00:42Going to help her Dad.

00:45Pepper, are you having lunch with Dad?

00:52She's trying to help you.

00:55She wants to be up here with Jimmy.

00:57Oh, Pepper Salt, you are something else.

01:01So, three years ago, Pepper came into our life.

01:05She came out of the woods and then started roosting on top of his truck.

01:09Every night, I climb onto this pickup and this is where I sleep.

01:15Ever since then, she hasn't really left.

01:18She's very settled here and she considers us her flock.

01:21What are you doing?

01:23Pepper is a very unique bird.

01:24P-I-N-J-O and Bingo was his name-o.

01:29Good job.

01:31I would say she's more of a family member than a wild turkey.

01:35Good job. You eating?

01:38At that point, we knew she was here to stay.

01:42So, as that year progressed, we decided to build Pepper her own coop.

01:48During the construction, Pepper would micromanage my work every step of the way.

01:52Are you helping Dad?

01:54She thinks she's helping, but she's more getting in the way than anything.

01:59Oh, Pepper, what are you doing?

02:01Listen, I don't mind you helping Dad doing projects, but you can't be on the soft. Do you understand?

02:06She had to inspect every screw, every board, and make sure everything was 100% up to her standards.

02:15Are you supervising Dad today? I guess so.

02:18Which started out as a coop and ended up becoming a palace.

02:23Such a smart girl. Did you get a new toy?

02:36She realizes, like, oh wow, this is mine.

02:40Pepper's living your best life.

02:42My husband and I will do everything that we can to keep her as safe as possible.

02:46Having Pepper has definitely changed our lifestyle.

02:51Is that the loser pile?

02:56When I've had a really stressful day and I need a break, me going and spending time with Pepper makes it okay.

03:04Oh, Jim.

03:06We are really happy to have Pepper as part of our family.

03:09She is an absolutely amazing bird.

03:13I never thought in a million years that I would fall in love with a turkey.

03:18She had a long day running around.

03:20She's a good girl.
