00:00Alex Adelaide and Axel Boulogne, the two French representatives in today's different categories,
00:06could not do better than a 6th place finish for the former, while the latter was not ranked after three unsuccessful attempts.
00:13In the women's categories, two Paralympic records and one world record were broken.
00:18Here's a summary of the day in Parapowerlifting.
00:20The greatest hopes for a medal rested on his shoulders and his pectorals.
00:25Paralympic silver medalist in Tokyo in 2021, Axel Boulogne was welcomed as a hero at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle.
00:33The Tifo in blue, white and red, the numerous flags, and the noise of the crowd contrasted with the demeanor of the man from Rome.
00:41Sitting on the bench before his first attempt, he closed his eyes for 30 seconds.
00:46Entering his zone, the once boisterous crowd fell into a reverent silence, disappointment for Axel Boulogne.
00:53Alas, his first attempt at 163 kg was invalidated by two of the three judges.
00:59The video challenge confirmed the decision, meaning he would need to perform better on the second lift.
01:04Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's David Degtyarev cleared his first lift at 184 kg, taking the lead in the competition.
01:12Vietnam's Anh Nguyen withdrew after failing his first attempt at 168 kg.
01:18With his ranking at its lowest, Axel Boulogne decided to increase the weight for his second attempt.
01:23We don't really understand the decision on the first lift, I felt comfortable with that weight, which is why I chose to increase, he explained to the journalists.
01:32The lift at 169 kg could have given him a provisional fifth place.
01:37However, his execution, poorly controlled with his right arm, was invalidated by all three judges.
01:43Once again, the video challenge did not overturn the decision.
01:47With his head in his hands, Boulogne realized he had missed his chance, after Tokyo, he would not return to the podium.
01:54Worse still, his third attempt, again at 169 kg, was another failure, Axel Boulogne would not even be ranked.
02:02Earlier in the day, during the first session, Alex Adelaide could do no better than a sixth place finish with his initial lift of 160 kg.
02:11Afterward, the Guadalupean failed his second attempt at 165 kg, as a slight delay in his push prevented the judges from validating the lift.
02:20For his final attempt, he took a gamble with a 170 kg lift, which would have placed him on the provisional podium if successful.
02:27The final victory was contested between Jordan's Omar Sami Hamad Akkarada, Turkey's Abdullah Kayapanar, and Vietnam's La Van Cong.
02:36The latter faltered first, failing at 176 and then 181 kg. In contrast, his two rivals surpassed the 180 kg mark.
02:46In the end, Omar Sami Hamad Akkarada seized the victory with a lift of 181 kg.
02:52A few minutes later, he attempted but failed to break the world record 183.5 gg with a lift of 184 kg.
