00:00So important to you, and what do you want to say to young cinephiles who may or may not be women

00:05about how and why that's so important?

00:07Honestly, in order to change the culture, you just have to get out there and do it.

00:11You know, and I think the reason that there aren't as many female directors as there are

00:15male directors is simply because we go off and have children and we raise our children

00:19and that becomes our life. And so it's harder. It takes us longer because we're putting those

00:24things together in the middle of also raising a family and being at home. And so, yeah,

00:30that's partly why, honestly, this film took the time that it took because I was doing

00:35other things in my life and everyone had to kind of go with the flow. I mean, my youngest was one

00:42when I first started putting the story together and he's turning 11 this year, which is insane.

00:47I know my producing partner, Kate, she came on board several years ago and she was still

00:54breastfeeding her son in all of our early meetings when he starts school tomorrow.

00:58So it just goes to show we just kept going. You just have to keep going and literally not give

01:06up and just say, no, I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it and manifest. I'm telling you,

01:09I believe in manifesting a lot.
