Thousands protested a Budapest headmaster's dismissal after he refused to implement a smartphone ban. Meanwhile, other European countries are also implementing a ban.

00:13Csaba Mezáros was forced to resign after 24 years after refusing to implement the government

00:19school's smartphone ban.

00:21We had a situation where the teacher asked us to put our phones on the desk, on our

00:27desk.

00:28We did it and it worked perfectly, so I think it would have been a much better solution

00:33to the problem.

00:34And in the Netherlands, primary school pupils are also no longer allowed to bring phones

00:39into the classroom.

00:41The ban already came into effect in Dutch secondary school classrooms at the start of

00:46this year.

00:49In other countries, such as France and Denmark, schools are also experimenting with a ban

00:54on phones.
