A new, Illawarra-first private clinical trials facility which has opened on Crown Street.

00:00Wollongong Clinical Research, it's a private clinical trial research site and really the

00:04aim is to bring innovation to patients and what that means is we work across a suite of eclectic

00:10clinical trials that really offer general wellness to the patients. So patients can come in,

00:16they can be involved in clinical research such as vaccine clinical trials, so shingles, RSV,

00:21combination trials with flu and COVID and also just general wellness. So we do cardiovascular

00:27trials, we do metabolic obesity trials and we're also involved in things like sexual wellness and

00:32mental health. I decided to go into shingles vaccine trial because a few years ago my brother

00:39got shingles and I've seen the pain and discomfort he went through with it so when I saw the

00:45opportunity pop up on Facebook I jumped into it and thought why not give it a go, it can help

00:51others out for access to a vaccine and a vaccine with less side effects. So I thought I'd have a go and

01:00see what I can come up with. The process so far is I've had a couple of phone calls

01:06and this morning I came in for some, they take some blood for preliminary tests and everything

01:12and then two weeks time I'll be in for the first jab and then that's followed up with

01:19on-site visits, phone visits, another jab three months later on. The whole process is about

01:2618 months long and bonus I get paid for my time.
