00:00Yeah, it was a little improvement for sure, but I'm looking to get better now in the next days.
00:12I had a small practice session after the match, so I'm trying to keep going,
00:21trying to understand what works here best in this court, and let's see what I can do in the next round.
00:27Name and affiliation, please. Everybody file in.
00:32We'll get everybody taken care of.
00:35My Italian friend's in the front.
00:37This gentleman had his hand up first. Go ahead.
00:40Congrats on the win, Yannick.
00:42Gary Nathan, Defector Media.
00:44I was wondering if you're planning on hiring a new full-time physio and trainer,
00:49if you're planning on hiring a physio and trainer, a new staff,
00:53and was it difficult to continue working with your old staff for a few months,
00:57even after you knew they made a mistake with the group?
00:59Yeah, of course it was a strange moment.
01:04Obviously, I don't want to talk about this at the moment.
01:09We are trying to understand who would be the best option now.
01:14Not easy, obviously, to find now in the middle of the season the physical trainer and the physio,
01:21but we try our best to find the best people.
01:29And then we'll see.
01:31After the US Open, hopefully I have something.
01:35So, let's see.
01:38Hi, Yannick. Catherine Whittaker, the Tennis Podcast.
01:40I don't know if you've seen, but Nick Kyrgios has been doing some on-court interviews this week.
01:45He's had some inflammatory things to say about you on social media.
01:49I just wondered if you'd thought about how you might feel being interviewed by him on the Arthrush Stadium?
01:56Yeah, I don't know.
02:01I don't want to respond on what he said.
02:07Everyone is free to say everything, so it's OK.
02:15If that is the case, let's see.
02:20It's going to be different, for sure.
02:30I don't know what to say.
02:32Maybe I say something now and then the reaction is going to be something else,
02:37because you live in this moment.
02:39But I'm always quite relaxed.
02:43I'm someone who forgets quite fast something.
02:48As I said, everyone is quite free to say everything.
02:53It is what it is.
02:55Yannick, even before all of this, what was your experience with online abuse and hateful messages?
03:03And how did you deal with it?
03:05A couple of players this week have talked about the experiences that they've had.
03:10Yeah, there's always going to be.
03:12There is socially something good and there is also the dark side.
03:16This is one of them.
03:22And everyone reacts in a different way.
03:28There are no secrets behind it.
03:32If I lose today, obviously some messages are coming in.
03:36But I try to be as less as possible on socials.
03:41Also because of that.
03:46It's like when you live something positive and you want to see socials
03:50and then you see compliments and then when you lose you see something a bit more negative.
03:55But that's how everything works.
03:59Just take it easy.
04:04We always try to do our best.
04:07Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose.
04:10I think trying to give our best, we won already.
04:17Regardless of the result.
04:21As I said, there are always going to be some people who are going to talk in a negative way.
04:26But that's also why you have the family, you have the close people who know you as a person.
04:32And then just stick with them because they give you the real values.
04:37So it's good.
04:46I'm not so much on socials, especially in the last period.
04:54I try to not look so much about this.
04:58I know that there are some negative messages.
05:05But it's something you have to be careful about, especially when you are younger.
05:09Because you care a lot about your reputation.
05:16But at the end of the day, that's why you have the close ones.
05:23They know you as a person and as an athlete.
05:28My advice is always to stick with them because they are very honest with you.
05:33And yeah, that's it.
05:34Bill.
05:36Bill Simons, Inside Tennis.
05:39You're number one in the world.
05:41You're still a very young man.
05:43Many before all this occurred felt that you've been really growing as a person and saying interesting things.
05:50My question is to you.
05:54What have you learned from this?
05:57And how do you think you're growing from all that's occurred?
06:04As I said, it helped me to see also who my friends are and who are not my friends.
06:13This is all part of a growing experience.
06:18I wish nobody has this experience to grow because this is a different way of experience.
06:24But you also realize that there is also a life outside of tennis, which is much more important than what we do.
06:38Because our daily routine is to hit tennis balls and go in the gym.
06:44But then you see that some people are sick.
06:48There are different things that come in my mind.
06:52And I said, OK, tennis is big for me because it showed me what I am as a person and how important the sport is.
07:01But in the other way, there is a life outside of tennis, which is even more important.
07:07Trying to be healthy, surround yourself with good people.
07:11That for me is more important.
07:15And then on the tennis court, obviously, I try to do my best.
07:18I try to fight and let the spectators enjoy the show.
07:27But for me, I believe that I have grown also as a person in this period, regardless of how everything is going.
07:37Which hopefully can help me then in the future.
07:40Who have been most helpful for you?
07:43My close ones, my daily ones, who I text with, who I talk with.
07:52This for me has been the most important people in this moment.
07:59But also, most likely these are people who know you already for a long time.
08:04Or these are people who I opened myself, trying to be close with them.
08:11So it's very important people.
08:18During the first set, we heard more than 15 planes above you.
08:24Is it something that bothers you or is it like normal life on a heart rush?
08:30Here you know that it's a bit more noisy.
08:33I didn't even realise so much the planes.
08:36You hear a bit of noise, but it's part of here.
08:43So I think we are all players.
