The U.S. Department of Agriculture discovered numerous violations at Boar's Head's plant in Virginia, now tied to a nationwide deli meat recall due to a listeria outbreak. Inspectors identified repeated mold, mildew, and insects throughout the facility. Last month, Boar's Head recalled all deli meats from the plant after the outbreak was linked to their products, resulting in dozens of hospitalizations and nine deaths across eighteen states. Genetic testing confirmed the presence of Listeria in unopened products. Boar's Head has suspended operations at the plant for disinfection and employee retraining.
