00:28Good morning out here, solo hunt on just a very, oh there she goes, already had a mallard
00:39hen come and land in the spread, just got 10 decoys, 8 mallards, a widgeon and a pintail
00:45once again, and just set up in a very, very small hole, very shallow water, and already
00:54worked on one duck.
00:55She's got about 5 minutes to go, kind of off and on rain shower, supposed to have a really
00:59good wind kind of come up my back at some point today, little cold front moving through,
01:05so hopefully get some more mallards in here, or some other ducks I guess, but that's a
01:12good sign, I mean she just dumped right in here.
01:25I don't know what it is, big duck, hey, she's got a pintail, she's got a pintail, she's
01:54got a duck, hey, duck, I don't even see it, hmm, maybe a gadwall, it dumped in before
02:15I could even identify it, and it hid literally right in those cattails, what do we got, oh,
02:34a gadwall, I'll pass on a gadwall for now, man, they decoyed in, that was cool, so here's
02:51a better look at the spread, like I said, just a really kind of hidden tiny pool, and
02:58had a, pretty sure it was a gadwall land here, mallard hen land here, and a pair of gadwall
03:03already look, so, apparently the gadwall like it, I've had some teals zip by me, I
03:08think later in the day we can get some mallards and probably some green wings in here, hopefully,
03:15just need that wind to really whip up, just a little hidden pocket, and I figure with
03:20this cold front moving through, once the wind really whips up, it's kind of sheltered, good
03:25place for them to kind of hide, I just dip back here about 5-10 yards further into this
03:31edge, and maybe that's what I need to do right now while it's overcast and calm yet, a single,
03:41looks like it's a mallard, is it a drake, oop, a susie, I am calling that a success,
04:04literally a minute later, solo hen comes and lands in the spread, so, decoy to mallard,
04:13just needed a green head,
04:43oh, these are coming in, these mallards, yeah, not going to take that shot,
05:07man, oh, crap, where did all these mallards come from,
05:24holy smokes,
05:44there he is, gorgeous, gorgeous drake,
05:52just off him on the first shot I hit him, but second shot I got him square on, so,
06:00we got one bird on the board, and honestly, should have, well, could have had another one,
06:09I didn't want to take a shot over this stuff and risk losing him,
06:14so, but, I mean, that one drake, he did not see me until I popped up,
06:19and he still would have been easily, very much in range,
06:40so, I made another move, I moved up a wind of the pool, or I should say up wind of where the
06:57wind is supposed to be coming from once it starts blowing how it is, and that is what I've been
07:03waiting for all morning, the sun finally, finally is out, and the wind is starting to whip up too,
07:15so, if we get it up to 25 or 30 like they're saying, I think we're going to start working
07:21these mallards in a lot better rather than have them take big passes and pick me out in the sea
07:26a sedge.
07:33Here they are, oh, there's like five or six now.

08:22All right, stone dead, another nice old drake. Oh, yeah, that's a pretty one.
08:31Another two shot, or should not have taken me two shots, but that was a nice working group.

09:12Got him, another nice, nice drake. Came in really nice, but another two shotter.
09:33Yeah, that is a little frustrating.
09:37I think I'm rushing, rushing my first shot today. I just need to slow down.
09:42And I am calling that a day. Ended with three nice little green heads on the day.
09:50Was pretty selective with my shooting. I didn't want to potentially lose one in the thick sedge
09:55cover, so I was trying to shoot them right over this little pool. Tried a new spot, tried
09:59something new, small decoy spread on just a very, very shallow skip of water with vegetation in it.
10:07There was duck feathers here, so I figured I'd give it a shot, and I would say it worked
10:11well enough. Could have shot a little better. I was kind of a two shot wanderer today, but
10:16that's all right. Still a fun day. Tried something new, and it worked well enough.
