00:06least, Kamala Harris' closing speech.

00:09Our nation with this election has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness,

00:20cynicism and divisive battles of the past, a chance to chart a new way forward.

00:31Party atmosphere, slick production, star appearances. The Democrats threw everything at these four

00:37marathon days. With Harris' nomination already a done deal, this was about appealing to swing

00:43voters and attempting to capitalise on Harris' slender lead in the polls.

00:49There were messages for the middle class, entrepreneurs and blue-collar workers to try

00:53and sway the perception that Republicans are stronger on the economy. And while the Harris

00:58campaign has focused on joy and positivity, speakers hammered home the dangers of another

01:03Donald Trump term.

01:05Donald Trump is an unserious man. But the consequences of putting Donald Trump back

01:17in the White House are extremely serious.

01:20If elected, Kamala Harris would become the first woman to be president, as well as the

01:25first South Asian and the first black woman. But she didn't mention making history in this

01:30manner. Instead, she focused on her life story, a strategy more akin to Barack Obama than

01:36to Hillary Clinton.

01:38Contrary to rumours, there was no surprise Beyonce appearance, but no pop star was needed

01:43to get Democrats in the mood for November's election. A mood polls apart from the one

01:48that hung over Joe Biden before he withdrew from the race a month ago.
