00:00Hi, welcome back to my channel, in this video, I will explain the story of Jennifer Stahl,
00:04what happened to her, who were her killers, so, let's begin.
00:08In May 2001, authorities received a call reporting a shooting involving five individuals.
00:14Upon arrival at the crime scene, located in an apartment above the renowned Carnegie Deli
00:18in Manhattan, New York, they discovered two fatalities and three surviving victims, including
00:22the apartment owner, Jennifer Stahl.
00:25Despite efforts, Stahl tragically passed away shortly after being transported to the hospital.
00:30The investigation into Stahl's death, along with the motive behind the crime, is chronicled
00:34in the Netflix series, Homicide New York, in an episode titled, Carnegie Deli Massacre.
00:39Jennifer Stahl, aged 39, resided in a modest studio apartment situated directly above the
00:44bustling Carnegie Deli in Manhattan, New York.
00:47Alongside her pursuits as an aspiring actress and model, she had notably appeared in the
00:51popular 1987 film, Dirty Dancing.
00:54However, her true passion lay in music, and she had transformed a room adjacent to her
00:58living quarters into a personal recording studio.
01:01Here, she fostered a creative environment, serving as a gathering place for artists to
01:05collaborate and cultivate meaningful works.
01:08To supplement her income, Jennifer Stahl engaged in the sale of marijuana, catering to a small,
01:13exclusive clientele that included prominent figures in the theater and music industries.
01:18Her customers were carefully screened, and she prided herself on providing a higher-quality
01:22product than what was typically available on the market.
01:25Welcoming numerous visitors to her apartment, she often enlisted the assistance of a trusted
01:29friend to oversee access and prioritized her safety and security.
01:33On the evening of May 10, 2001, a group of individuals, including Anthony Vajor, a hairdresser
01:39and close friend of Jennifer Stahl, Stephen King, who was assisting with managing the
01:42door, as well as Rosamund Dayne and Dayne's fiancé, Charles Trey Halliwell, were gathered
01:47in Stahl's apartment.
01:49While they were socializing, two masked assailants entered the apartment and forcibly took Stahl
01:53to the recording studio, where she was shot in the head.
01:56The intruders then bound the hands of the other individuals with duct tape and proceeded
01:59to shoot them before fleeing the scene.
02:02Vajor, one of the survivors of the attack, managed to call 911 after the intruders left,
02:07alerting the authorities to the violent incident.
02:10Upon arrival, the police discovered Trey and King deceased, while Stahl was found with
02:14her hands, bound by duct tape, covered in blood.
02:17All three surviving victims, including Vajor, were promptly transported to the hospital.
02:22Unfortunately, despite medical intervention, Stahl was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
02:28Police investigation revealed surveillance footage capturing masked men entering Jennifer
02:31Stahl's apartment, one of whom had dreadlocks.
02:34Witnesses at the Carnegie Deli reported seeing a red car near the apartment, with two men
02:38hastily getting into it and fleeing the scene.
02:41Additionally, one of Stahl's friends informed the police about a recent altercation between
02:45Stahl and her boyfriend, who bore a resemblance to one of the individuals seen in the surveillance
02:49videos.
02:51Police brought in Stahl's boyfriend for questioning, but his alibi checked out, removing him from
02:55the list of suspects.
02:57This led investigators to consider the possibility of the crime being linked to a drug deal or
03:01a botched robbery.
03:02Anthony Vajor, upon partial recovery, informed the police that he overheard someone mention
03:07the arrival of a person named Sean just moments before the attack.
03:10Subsequently, documents retrieved from Stahl's apartment included a CV bearing the name Sean
03:15Sally, prompting further investigation into his potential involvement.
03:19Upon investigating Sally, the police discovered his criminal record, which included prior
03:23charges related to robbery and firearms possession.
03:26Moreover, his picture matched one of the suspects who was seen in the surveillance footage.
03:31Following a lead to Sally's residence in Newark, New Jersey, law enforcement showed a surveillance
03:35video to a young girl residing nearby, who identified the second individual in the footage
03:39as Andre Smith.
03:41Subsequently, when the police visited Smith's residence, his wife informed them that he
03:45was not present.
03:46However, several days later, to the surprise of authorities, Smith voluntarily appeared
03:51at the precinct.
03:53During the interrogation, Smith initially denied any involvement but eventually succumbed
03:57to pressure and confessed.
03:59He claimed that Sally had proposed the robbery scheme, suggesting they could steal marijuana
04:03and cash from Stahl's apartment.
04:05He said that he needed money as he recently had a child and was struggling financially.
04:10According to Smith, Sally instructed him to restrain the occupants while he carried
04:13out the shootings.
04:15Smith asserted that he was taken aback by the violence and denied any direct participation
04:19in the shootings.
04:21Despite his confession, Sally remained elusive, and authorities intensified their search for
04:25him.
04:26Following an extensive two-month search, law enforcement sought the assistance of America's
04:30Most Wanted, broadcasting Sally's image nationwide.
04:34Shortly after the episode aired, a tip from Miami led police to a homeless shelter where
04:38Sally was residing.
04:40Despite a brief chase, authorities successfully apprehended him.
04:44Subsequent DNA analysis linked Sally to genetic material recovered from the duct tape used
04:48to bind one of the victims.
04:51Both Sally and Smith were subsequently convicted of the murders.
04:55That's all for now folks, I would appreciate it if you could give the video a super thanks
