00:00Hi, welcome back to my channel.
00:02In this video, I will explain the ending of Owaju.
00:05So, let's begin.
00:07Helmed by Zeke Nelson, Owaju is an Afrofuturistic Disney Plus animated series that follows Tola,
00:13a bright and curious girl from an affluent island suburb who yearns to bridge the gap
00:17with her father, a visionary tech entrepreneur.
00:20Yet, despite his noble intentions and groundbreaking innovations, the city remains divided, with
00:26opportunities unevenly distributed.
00:29Tola's best friend, Cole, embodies this divide, showcasing exceptional tech skills but struggling
00:34to make ends meet.
00:36Meanwhile, nefarious elements exploit technological advancements for their gain, wielding advanced
00:41gadgets to orchestrate elaborate heists.
00:44As Tola navigates the complexities of adolescence, she finds herself thrust into a high-stakes
00:49game of cat and mouse, confronting ingenious criminal masterminds while grappling with
00:53her own identity.
00:54Here is everything you need to know about the ending.
00:57Just to let you know this video will contain spoilers.
01:00In an unspecified future, the city of Lagos will be broken into two parts, the main city,
01:06where the working class struggles to make ends meet, and the island, where the rich
01:10flourish.
01:11However, there's a spot of bother as many islander children are getting kidnapped, and
01:15their rich parents have no other option but to pay a lot of money as ransom.
01:20There's one solution, though, an AI robot called Oton, which looks like a harmless little
01:24lizard developed by Greenwood tech scientist Tund Martins.
01:29However, Tund can't get the most essential thing about Oton right.
01:33That happens to be activating the Ija, where the lizard turns into a vicious mini-kaiju-like
01:38neon pink monster, in order to protect.
01:41Who is Tola, and what does she want?
01:43Tund's daughter, 10-year-old Tola, is our very likable main character.
01:49She is a very inquisitive kid who longs for attention from her busy father but doesn't
01:53really get much of it.
01:55Tola has never been to the main city, about which she is expected to be very curious.
02:00She particularly wants to explore the adjugunal neighborhood, where her father originally
02:04came from.
02:06Tola does have a friend from that place, a young boy named Cole who works in their house,
02:10which is a rather sad thing given Tola and Cole are of the same age, yet their lives
02:15are so different in every possible way.
02:18Who is behind the abduction of the children?
02:21What is really admirable about Owaju is its attempt to give a valid reason, and a backstory,
02:26to its main villain instead of making the person unnecessarily evil.
02:30As a child, Ogobud, who also came from the adjugunal neighborhood, didn't have it easy.
02:36His mother got fired from the household where she used to work as a maid because Oga stole
02:40a little money.
02:41But Oga was not ashamed of the choice he made.
02:45He thought he deserved that money and made it his motto in life to take things from the
02:48rich.
02:50That little boy has now become the infamous Oga, who's the mastermind behind the kidnapping,
02:54along with Happiness, a no-nonsense woman who does not necessarily agree with Oga's
02:58way of working, and a former boxer, Sunday.
03:02Oga's main target is Tund, though, as he'll be able to provide a list of all the rich
03:06people.
03:08But Tund is not an easy target, so Oga decides to do the only thing he can, which is kidnapping
03:13Tola.
03:14What is Cole's dilemma?
03:16You could see Cole was hiding something from Tola from the very beginning, and once Oga's
03:20character was introduced, it was not particularly hard to figure out.
03:25Cole is most certainly Oga's pawn to reach Tund, just because he happens to be friends
03:29with Tola and also works in the Martins' household.
03:32However, Cole is a loyal friend who will never do anything to hurt Tola.
03:37Sadly, he also has a sick mother.
03:41So Oga makes use of his weakness and promises free treatment for his mother in exchange
03:45for Cole's help.
03:47How does Tola get kidnapped?
03:49Tola always wanted to visit the mainland, but Tund was always afraid something might
03:53happen to her there, and frankly, he was not particularly wrong.
03:58On her 10th birthday, she receives a gift from Tund that happens to be this weird-looking
04:02lizard.
04:04But Tund promises that if she takes care of the lizard, he will take her to the mainland.
04:09Tola obviously has no idea what the lizard really is, but she does her best to make sure
04:13the poor little animal is okay.
04:16But seeing Tola dining with someone like Cole one day, Tund gets mad, and he declares that
04:21Tola is not going to the mainland.
04:24So now Tola has no choice but to ask for Cole's help.
04:28Convincing the family driver, God's power, doesn't seem to be the challenge, and we soon
04:32see Tola and Cole roaming around in the streets of Lagos.
04:37Tola is bewildered by the charm of the new world she has found.
04:41But Cole, despite having a good time, is looking quite anxious, for obvious reasons.
04:47But when Sunday and Happiness come to take away Tola, Cole changes his mind and tries
04:51to fight them off.
04:53Unfortunately, he is after all a little boy who can't really beat up a pair of criminals
04:57and save Tola from getting abducted by these people.
05:01He is smart enough to tell Tola to agree to whatever these people say in order to be okay,
05:06beforehand.
05:07What Cole and Tola both don't notice is that Oten has been following them all along but
05:11the problem is she has almost zero charge left in her battery.
05:15Does Tola get saved in the end?
05:17Tola's father, Tund, does come off as this typical rich person, and how he treats Cole
05:22initially is quite frustrating, especially considering Tund himself comes from a very
05:26humble background.
05:28In his backstory, you actually see how a younger Tund joins Greenwood Tech with the dream of
05:33inventing things to help people.
05:35But his boss, Mrs. Usman, makes it clear to him that all that matters is pleasing the
05:39clients and shareholders.
05:41Tund, in the present, is a person who is not inherently bad but has been molded by his
05:46circumstances.
05:48When Tund learns that Tola was kidnapped, he has no problem spending the money to get
05:52his daughter back.
05:54But that only implies his invention has failed, as he in fact presented it to his daughter
05:58to do a trial run.
06:00What Tund didn't consider doing was activating the all-important EJA, which would have been
06:04useful in the situation.
06:07But Oten turns out to be a self-aware AI who quickly figures out the urgency of the
06:11situation and starts fixing things.
06:14Because of her, Tund manages to locate Cole, and once the confusing state of, how did all
06:19this happen gets clear, the two of them become quite friendly.
06:23There's still the most important job in hand, though, saving Tola.
06:27Meanwhile, remembering what Cole said to her, Tola appears to be extremely polite to Oga
06:32and the whole gang, and they can't help but like the little kid.
06:35Oga is the villain of this story, but he's clearly someone who would melt when a cute
06:39kid talks about random things with him and lovingly refers to him as hunkle.
06:44That doesn't mean he has abandoned his quest, though.
06:47No matter how much he likes the kid, the father is all an islander who needs to be taught
06:52a lesson.
06:53During Awaj's ending, Oga takes Tund, Tola, Cole, and everyone else to Tund's house on
06:58the island, where Tund is supposed to use his computer in order to erase Oga's name
07:02from all the police databases.
07:05The plan is clearly a stupid one, and you know it's going to fail, but it's still so
07:09much fun to watch after all.
07:12And while Tund keeps trying to fulfill Oga's wish at his office, Cole and Ola manage to
07:16deceive Happiness, Sunday, and Oga's other minions and achieve what even Tund hasn't
07:20been able to do yet, activating the Ija.
07:24After that, it was a matter of time before Oton took care of business and put Oga in
07:28the hands of the law.
07:30Not to mention, Tola also livestreams Oga's confession of all the wrongdoings, which is
07:35seen by everyone in Lagos.
07:37To think about it, it is actually Tola who saves the day, and also saves her father,
07:42not the other way around.
07:44That's all for now folks, I would appreciate it if you could give the video a super thanks
07:48with a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel so you can see more content like this every
07:52day, take care, bye!
