00:00Austin's Wimmera Base Hospital is celebrating 150 years of operation.

00:04I sat down with Grampians Health librarian Michelle Pittman

00:07who explained how important the hospital is to the community.

00:11I think it means that we have something that's

00:15grown really significant roots in our community.

00:19The people that live here often also work here, their families come

00:25and work here in the future and it has become

00:29an intrinsic part of the Horsham's identity, the Wimmera's identity.

00:36Why do you think the community has such a link to the hospital as well?

00:40It's the people. From the very beginning of the hospital since 1873-1874

00:48the community have rallied to support this hospital.

00:52They fundraise, they act in any capacity possible to make sure

00:59this hospital stays and exists and continues to provide

01:05excellent health care for everybody.
