00:00Arms depots hit in southern Lebanon and deeper inside the country.
00:07Secondary explosions followed the initial Israeli strikes
00:11that are believed to have destroyed weapons warehouses belonging to Hezbollah.
00:18Israel is using this period to try and degrade Hezbollah's capacities to the extent that it can,
00:24both in terms of taking out members of Hezbollah,
00:29whether high-level commanders or officers,
00:33through targeted attacks,
00:36but at the same time they're also degrading their weapons capacities.
00:42There's been a threat of a wider conflict after ten months of fighting
00:46that's been in parallel with the war on Gaza.
00:49Hezbollah has said its attacks are part of efforts to reduce pressure on the Strip
00:54by diverting Israel's military resources,
00:57but Israel has been acting with little restraint.
01:01So far, notwithstanding Hezbollah's videos and propaganda and speeches and words,
01:07its actions haven't managed to deter Israel's attacks on Lebanon.
01:13Israel has demonstrated greater intelligence capacity
01:18in finding targets and in achieving results with those targets.
01:24Almost daily, there's a targeted strike on a car or a motorcycle
01:29killing a member of Hezbollah, and they are happening kilometers from the border.
01:33In its messaging to Israel, Hezbollah has tried to re-establish deterrence
01:38by showing its military capabilities.
01:41And while there is little doubt Hezbollah can inflict damage on Israel,
01:45it has been sticking to the unwritten rules of engagement
01:48where both sides avoid targeting population centers.
01:52Hezbollah has accused Israel of crossing red lines by targeting Beirut and killing civilians,
01:58and it has promised to retaliate.
02:00But that could lead to an Israeli counterattack,
02:03and in the absence of a ceasefire deal in Gaza,
02:06this conflict could be heading towards an escalation.
