Kirk Herbstreit on dog Ben's health after leukemia diagnosis

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit revealed that his dog Ben was recently diagnosed with leukemia while appearing on Audacy Sports’ “The Bret Boone Podcast” this week

00:00How's Ben? Is he ready for the football season? Ben is always ready. We've had a tough offseason.

00:07He got diagnosed with, I haven't really told anybody this, but he got diagnosed with leukemia

00:13and most recently had to have an operation where they had to take a couple masses,

00:19had to open him up and took out his spleen where there was a mass and another mass on his intestine,

00:25which is a pretty big procedure when you're 10 years old. So I didn't know if we were going to

00:31lose him or what. He did not respond favorably the first three or four days, wouldn't eat,

00:37wouldn't go into the bathroom. And this was just probably two and a half weeks ago.

00:42And he's slowly kind of coming out of that state and is back to kind of taking walks and eating

00:52and wagging and kind of starting to get back to his personality. So I am praying every day for

00:59him and hoping that he's going to be okay. First of all, just to be okay. And then secondly,

01:05hope to be able to take him out on the road with me again this year.
