00:00Several victims of obsessive stalkers have seen their lives turned upside down.

00:05Qin, a 46-year-old property agent, has been harassed by a 55-year-old former client named Liu,

00:12who has sent her over 2,000 disturbing messages since 2020.

00:17Their relationship, which began in 2017 when Qin served as Liu's agent,

00:22initially seemed friendly but took a dark turn when Liu, claiming to have a Datuk Seri title,

00:28began exhibiting increasingly threatening and stalker-like behaviour.

01:12And then he tell me, actually this one is our escape pod.

01:20At a press conference on Tuesday, Qin revealed that Liu has been threatening and defaming her,

01:25continuing to send messages through new phone numbers and emails despite her efforts to block him.

01:31I don't know how he can call the people around me,

01:35say I have a mental problem, say I have a mental problem,

01:39actually I need financial help.

01:42Actually he is very kind, he tried to provide me financial help.

01:48He everyday email me, I love you, I miss you.

01:51And then the next day, he very inconsistent behaviour.

01:54And then suddenly the next day he will email me,

02:01say something like degrading me.

02:05Similarly, a couple from Mentakab, Pahang,

02:08has faced harassment from a stalker who nearly ruined their marriage.

02:12Air conditioner technician, 31-year-old Lim Kai Xian and his wife, 29-year-old Fong Meng Min,

02:18have been subjected to online slander since January 2022,

02:22with the stalker spreading false accusations of infidelity,

02:26almost leading to the break-up of their marriage.

02:28I was lied to by my wife.

02:30She texted me and my wife.

02:34Then she said I made her have a baby and didn't want to take responsibility.

02:40I had her messenger.

02:42Then she didn't reply to me.

02:44One day, I remember it was during Eid,

02:50she sent me a video of her having sex.

02:58Do you want to see it?

02:59She wrote a comment and posted it.

03:01Lim said despite filing multiple police reports and complaints

03:04with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,

03:07he has seen no action taken against the stalker.

03:11MCA Public Services and Complaints Department,

03:14Head Datuk Seri Michael Chong,

03:16noted that stalking is widespread in Malaysia,

03:18but hopes recent amendments to the Penal Code,

03:21which criminalize stalking,

03:23will bring justice and encourage more victims to come forward.
