So Charlie starting with Birmingham City and obviously we quite anticipated their start
00:04
to life in League One had to be quite you know good they started off with a draw against Reading
00:09
who obviously were a championship side not so long ago as well so quite a positive start and
00:14
then they've won the EFL Cup I know the EFL Cup early rounds aren't really you know spoke about
00:20
too much but it's still good to get that that win over the line. Yeah I think the the cup win will
00:24
give some confidence and the fact they had a red card as well at the end and that's a work card
00:28
to get that one over the line that was great to see Brandon Keller becoming the first Punjabi
00:33
player to score for Blues and what a goal it was as well outside the area opens up his body and
00:38
curls it into that top corner a great celebration from him as well and just a very special moment
00:43
for an academy player to be able to score a goal like that. I was at the game against Reading it
00:47
was 1-1 in the end and I think quite disappointing in general because a lot of people came into that
00:53
thinking okay Blues should maybe not walk all over Reading because they've got a decent starting 11
00:58
but given Reading's financial position at the moment their lack of squad depth maybe lack of
01:02
confidence around the club as well Blues should probably go and win that one but Reading came
01:07
out the blocks a better team and they were clinical in the first half got the first goal
01:12
with a great finish into the bottom right hand corner good through ball as well and Blues just
01:15
weren't really sticking and had all of the ball but their attacks just weren't really flowing and
01:20
you can expect that it's early signs under and early days under Chris Davies but I think fans
01:25
were expecting a little bit more of course Alfie May did score the penalty in the end was it
01:29
fortunate Emile Hansen crossing the ball in and a handball when the defender was trying to move
01:34
his arm away it might have been a little bit fortunate for Blues but the penalty was given
01:38
Alfie May conversed it and hearing the tilts and roar again was a good experience myself in the
01:43
press box and I think fans will want to kick on now and get a point on the boards not the worst
01:48
start but not quite what they would have expected. Yeah and just looking at the league one table you
01:53
know going into it obviously we thought that Blues have got this you know aura around the club
01:58
at the moment where the owners have invested well they're looking to go straight back up but
02:03
you know if you look on a deeper level you know you see there's a lot of championship stalemates
02:08
over the last five or ten years or so who are in this division and you know the more you look at
02:12
it the more competitive it gets you know as the season goes on there's going to be some big tests
02:18
for Blues what are the fans sort of feeling about that do you think? I think the fans as I said that
02:23
they're kind of expecting that they go up straight away because why wouldn't they they've got the
02:26
strongest team in the division they've got the most financial backing out of absolutely anybody
02:31
spending multiple million on players in the league one is unheard of in the championship it's quite
02:35
rare at lower level but in league one I mean that's that's ridiculous and they're still going
02:40
they're bidding for players for two three million pounds they've already made 10 new additions most
02:44
of those have been paid for as well so you would expect they go up straight away but this is league
02:50
one it's a very unpredictable division we've seen the likes of Sunderland and Portsmouth get stuck
02:55
down there in recent years for multiple seasons you've got Wrexham who are desperate to go up and
03:00
they've got obviously Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney there and the whole series behind
03:04
them you've got Bolton you've got Huddersfield and Rotherham want to go back up and it's going to be
03:09
a tough task and Chris Davies has been reminding fans of this that league one is not a walk in the
03:13
park and it's not going to happen straight away
