00:00The inventor of the keyboard was a true genius.

00:03Externally, a keyboard comprises keys, a housing, and screws.

00:07Upon opening the keyboard, one can observe a rubber mat,

00:10each protrusion aligning with a key.

00:12Beneath this mat lies a circuit board interlaced with wires.

00:15Situated on the upper right side of the keyboard is the battery,

00:19adjacent to which is the microprocessor.

00:21Pressing a key creates a complete circuit loop on the board,

00:25signaling the processor to identify the pressed key.

00:28Releasing the key breaks the circuit.

00:31Despite there being only 11 contact points between the circuit board and the processor,

00:35with each point connected to multiple keys,

00:38the system can distinguish over a hundred different keys.

00:41This is achieved by assigning each button a unique row and column number.

00:45For instance, when the Y key is pressed, corresponding to the second row and fourth column,

00:51the processor identifies it based on pre-established numbering rules.

00:55A mechanical keyboard operates similarly to a regular keyboard,

00:59but differs in that it has an individual mechanical switch under each key.

01:04Pressing a key causes two metal contacts to meet,

01:07forming a circuit and sending the signal to the processor.

01:10As a result, mechanical keyboards produce a louder click sound than their membrane counterparts
