00:00Hi, I'm Evie from Art by Evelyn Gibbs. I am a pencil portrait artist and I specialise in horses and dogs.

00:08So I've always been an animal lover, so I've grown up with handy dogs and riding school horses and dogs,

00:14so it's always where my passion has been. Drawing is very cathartic, it's something I really enjoy doing

00:22and when I figured out over lockdown that I could actually show this to the wider world and make a living out of it,

00:28I thought, you know what, that sounds like an amazing thing to do. So this is my life now,

00:34I work, sleep, eat and breathe horses and dogs and I absolutely love it.

00:39So this piece, I've already spent about a week working on this dog, so as you can imagine,

00:44working in pencil is a very slow medium, you are literally working in millimetre precision,

00:49so this is going to take me about a month to do the entire thing, so it's slow but it's worth it I think.

00:56I think the life that pencil can give to a portrait is just, you know, the closer you look the more you see it

01:03and it really is, it's not just a dog, it's a specific, you know, living, breathing thing that I'm capturing and it's just, yeah.
