Governor-General Sam Mostyn announced Australian Bravery Decorations to recognise the courage of 46 people who had "earned the gratitude of every Australian".

00:00I would like to congratulate today's recipients of Australian Bravery Decorations.

00:05For nearly 50 years, the Australian Honours System has recognised outstanding Australians,

00:11men and women who have contributed to their communities and our nation with care and kindness.

00:17Australian Bravery Decorations honour those who put themselves in danger

00:22to protect the lives or property of others.

00:25Recipients come from different parts of our country and diverse backgrounds.

00:29And they are all connected by their selfless, courageous, resilient and determined response

00:35in extraordinary circumstances. Each is inspiring.

00:40I am delighted that these exceptional people

00:42will forever know that they have earned the gratitude of every Australian.

00:47On behalf of all Australians, congratulations to you all and thank you for your bravery.
