Six months ago, this orphanage in South Africa looked like this.
00:06
And despite having saved more than 5,000 children's lives over time,
00:10
it was about to get shut down.
00:12
When hearing about this, we made it our mission to ensure this doesn't happen
00:16
by rebuilding 12 new homes with an ongoing supply of fresh food
00:20
as well as a brand new playground.
00:22
This is Mama Rosie, who started the Bupuma Lele Orphanage 30 years ago,
00:26
after a baby was abandoned on her doorstep.
00:29
Mama Rosie is an absolutely incredible person,
00:32
but as hard as she's fought, as much as she's given,
00:35
these kids were about to lose their only family,
00:37
the only place they've ever known as home.
00:40
To ensure this does not happen,
00:42
we spent the last six months working tirelessly
00:45
so that these kids have a safe and clean environment to live in.
01:00
Done.
01:01
We also made sure that Mama Rosie had seen none of the renovations
01:04
before surprising her.
01:05
This is going to be awesome.
01:07
Mama Rosie, you promised me you haven't seen anything yet.
01:10
Yes, I haven't seen anything.
01:15
Are you ready?
01:16
Ready, ready, ready.
01:18
Let's take this off.
01:24
No!
01:30
No!
01:38
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
01:41
Before surprising the kids that lived in the orphanage with their brand new home,
01:45
we had to find someone that Mama Rosie held very dear to her heart.
01:48
The last time we were here, Mama Rosie told us about a young boy named Yamkela,
01:52
who left the orphanage 14 years ago with the dream of becoming a musician.
01:56
So Darren and Dan, a filmmaker and musician from Cape Town,
01:59
tracked him down to be a part of the big reveal.
02:04
They then took Yamkela to see his old bedroom that has been completely rebuilt.
02:14
After months and months of grueling labor,
02:16
it was finally time to surprise the kids.
02:20
The kids are all lining up outside right now
02:22
and we're about to bring them in and show them their brand new homes
02:25
for the very first time.
02:42
Thank you so much for bringing dignity to these children
02:47
because it has boosted their self-esteem.
02:51
They live in a better, better place.
02:56
We wanted to find out more about Yamkela and his life outside the orphanage,
03:00
as well as offer him the opportunity of a lifetime
03:03
to inspire orphans all around the world.
03:05
Oh, come, I want to show you something.
03:12
I kept this all these years.
03:15
Remember the guitar you used to play on under that tree across the road?
03:26
Sometimes I even dream about this place.
03:30
This is where my roots are.
03:32
In order for Yamkela to make a living, he had to become a cleaner at the airport,
03:36
leaving him hardly any time to practice his music and harness his talent.
03:40
It kills me knowing that I'm doing something that I'm not into
03:45
and there is something that I want to do that I really love, but I cannot do it.
03:51
In Yamkela, I see this deep need to want to express himself
03:56
through the art form of music,
03:58
yet he doesn't really have any tools to be able to do so.
04:04
So, we decided to surprise Yamkela
04:06
with a top-of-the-range professional acoustic guitar.
04:09
But the best part is we're going to be enrolling Yamkela
04:12
in one of the best music schools in South Africa
04:15
and paying all his living expenses for the entire year.
04:20
I don't know what to say.
04:22
Thank you. Thank you so much.
04:24
All the music you've heard so far in this video
04:27
has been made in collaboration with Yamkela.
04:30
And while they continue to make music,
04:32
I want to tell you guys about our incredible long-term partner,
04:35
the sponsor of this video, Electric E-Bikes.
04:38
This orphanage build ended up costing a lot more than we thought it was going to
04:42
and Electric E-Bikes stepped up to the plate
04:44
by providing the additional funding to help us finish it.
04:47
So, if you don't know what Electric E-Bikes are and what they do,
04:50
they're on a mission to change people's lives
04:52
by increasing their mobility while being energy efficient.
04:55
One example of them doing this is our last video
04:57
where we gave away 1,000 E-Bikes to people around the world,
05:00
including Kenya, to help them more efficiently transport water.
05:03
So, do me a favor and click the link in the description below
05:06
and purchase an Electric E-Bike from them,
05:08
because by doing that, you'll help them make money
05:10
so they can continue to support these projects,
05:12
and it's a beautiful cycle I'd love to keep going.
05:14
Thank you, Electric E-Bikes, for sponsoring the video.
05:16
We went through one final celebration for the orphanage
05:18
by getting Yamkella to perform a few of his original songs.
05:32
Nibapu Melele will continue doing what we are doing,
05:36
saving lives. Thank you so much.
05:40
I don't know
05:43
what's on my mind so
05:46
It is now time for Yamkella to start his musical journey.
05:49
We are so excited to see what he can do,
05:51
and we will keep you constantly updated
05:53
on his progress throughout the year.
05:57
See you later.
05:58
And I want to say a special thank you to Checker6060
06:01
for sending motorbikes and a literal truck
06:04
full of food to the orphanage. Thank you so much.
06:07
And I also want to shout out Yum Yum, Sunbake,
06:09
Rama, Jumor, and RCL Foods
06:11
for also committing to feed the orphanage
06:13
for an additional year.
06:15
But despite everything we've done,
06:16
Mama Rosie and the orphans still need more help.
06:18
So if you're able, click the link in the description
06:20
or the donate button below this video
06:22
and just give whatever you can.
06:23
And just by watching these videos,
06:24
you are literally changing lives.
06:26
So thank you.
