00:00She asks the question that tie is a symbol of a cross, symbol of Christian, then why
00:06have I, being a Muslim, wear the tie?
00:10And I do know that many Muslims consider the tie to be a symbol of a cross.
00:16But I am a student of comparative religion.
00:19Nowhere in any Christian scripture is it mentioned that tie is a sign of a cross.
00:25And if it is, the hadith clearly says that you cannot wear that which resembles that
00:30of an unbeliever.
00:31If it's a specific symbol of a non-Muslim, you cannot wear that label, it is haram.
00:37Nowhere will you find a single statement in any verse of the Bible where it says that
00:42tie is a sign of a cross.
00:45I am aware that many Muslims, they are against the Western culture, and I don't blame them.
00:50What I say, if you find something against, if you observe something which the Westerners
00:56are doing wrong, you have to object to it.
00:59But what things they do good, there is no harm in agreeing with it.
01:03What things are neutral, there is no harm, not that you have to object to that also.
01:08Many Muslims are so much against the Western culture that they object on each and everything.
01:14Tie is not at all the symbol of Christianity.
01:17And this question is posed to me in various parts of the world, and I challenge and I
01:21tell the audience that if any Muslim can prove to me, any time, with authentic proof, that
01:28tie is a sign of a cross of a Christian, I will be the first person to remove it.
01:34And I will tell all the people not to wear it.
01:37Tie is not a sign of Christianity at all.
01:40It's not a sign of a cross at all.
01:43It's a cultural dress.
01:45And research that has been done by scholars, not from here say, from scholars, how did
01:49it originate?
01:50Some scholars say in the cold countries, people wore a tie to tie their garments which were
01:57heavy, you know, in the cold countries, you know, woolen clothes, etc.
02:00It's a cultural dress.
02:02It's not a dress of the Christian.
02:04You go throughout the world, the Christian wears, he wears a tie, Alhamdulillah, I know
02:08about it.
02:09The Muslim wears it, the Hindu wears it, it is not specifically a sign of Christianity.
02:14It's a cultural dress.
02:15And a Muslim is allowed to adopt any culture as long as it doesn't go against the Islamic
02:20Sharia.
02:21If that culture goes against the Islamic Sharia, like wearing shorts, it's a culture of the
02:26Westerners.
02:27We Muslims can't adopt it because for a man, the hijab, the awrah is from the navel to
02:32the knee.
02:33He can't wear shorts.
02:34It's not allowed.
02:35Travelling in a car, the car was invented by the Christian, the Westerners.
02:40Can I say, the Christian invented it, therefore I can't sit in a car, I don't have an aeroplane.
02:46Can I say that?
02:47No.
02:48Whatever is against the Sharia, you should not do.
02:51Tie is not a sign of Christianity at all.
02:54This tie, people say, it looks like a cross.
02:58You open and you stretch the circle, it becomes a cross.
03:02I tell them, the kurta that you wear, you put like that, it resembles more like a cross.
03:10So you can't invent your own thinking, oh kurta looks like a cross, therefore stop wearing
03:15kurta.
03:16Can I tell that?
03:17Can I ever tell that?
03:18See, the Prophet said, anything which is a symbol of a particular religion, don't wear
03:23those symbols.
03:24Tie is not a symbol of Christianity.
03:27It's a cultural test.
03:28It's not a fardh, you should wear a tie, I'm not saying that.
03:32Don't wear, Alhamdulillah, I'm with you.
03:34But when I go to the Western countries, it helps deleting certain barriers.
03:39And if Islam doesn't object to that, I don't mind using it, if Islam objects to that, I
03:45should not use anything which Islam prohibits, even if it benefits me.
03:51But since this thing, Alhamdulillah, is allowed in Islam, there's no problem at all if a person
03:56wears a tie.
03:57Hope that answers the question, sister.
