Blackpool businesses determined to open as normal during Airshow despite recent riots

00:04Promenade have raised concerns about whether the attendance of this weekend's Blackpool Air Show

00:08will be impacted by the recent riots seen in Blackpool and across the country.

00:12But despite this, businesses in Blackpool on the Promenade are still determined to open as usual,

00:19serve the 300,000 people expected and enjoy the show.

00:24So has your business been impacted by any of the riots in Blackpool?

00:29We had to shut early the other day due to the riots. So I suppose we've lost out on money,

00:34which is a shame. You'll go on about, we're not getting enough money and all the jobs are going

00:41but you're making businesses shut and damaging them, so it's daft really.

00:46Are you going to be open for the air show this weekend?

00:48Obviously, it's a massive thing in Blackpool isn't it?

00:52How do you think attendance will be impacted due to all the press and all the live

00:59noise and protests that we've got going on in Blackpool?

01:01I'd naively like to think it's not going to be, but then people are afraid.

01:07And we have quite a large Muslim community in Blackpool and it's just disgraceful how

01:14they might feel a sense of danger to come to the air show, which is not nice on them at all.

01:23It's disgraceful.

01:25So are you as a business doing anything different?

01:30No, not really. It's not affected us per se,

01:34so I think we've just kept going as we do prepare for busy days and make money.

01:48So has your business been impacted by the riots in Blackpool?

01:53No.

01:55How much do you think the riots will impact the attendance tomorrow?

02:01I don't think it affected it at all.

02:03They mainly target the Metropole Hotel where the immigrants are.

02:10So you think people won't be attending?

02:11No, no. Everybody likes a free show, the Red Arrows.

02:16No, we do exactly everything. We did the same thing last Saturday

02:19and last, was it Tuesday or Wednesday? I can't remember.
