00:00Traditional owners say they spotted a first boat while they were working among the mangroves
00:07in that Koorie Bay area, which is about 370 kilometres north of where I am in the Kimberley.
00:12That was on Monday evening.
00:14They called Border Force officials, who they say arrived the following morning on Tuesday.
00:20When officials did arrive, the two men told the Border Force officials that they understood
00:24there were areas in the mangroves where the boats normally tuck in.
00:29So they showed the Border Force official where those areas were.
00:32But the men said it's not the first time that they have been sighting boats tucked in amongst
00:37the mangroves in that area.
00:39Here's what they told us.
00:41We're pretty elated because we've been seeing them for a while now and Border Force have
00:47come up here once or twice and have had no luck and we've been a bit frustrated because
00:52we continue to see them.
00:55We bump into them, we ring Border Force, nothing happens.
00:58The Australian Navy happened to be in the area.
01:01They responded to a call and they were, of course, without assistance.
01:09They reacted swiftly.
01:10When we went in there, we found the boat tied up right inside the middle of the mangrove
01:14system and the crew were all asleep.
01:19So we assumed they'd probably been working at night and resting during the day.
