Tiny Pale Fish Completely Changes Color

Neglected betta fish completely changes color after he's adopted. We talked to his mom, who showed us the amazing transformations of every fish she's rescued!

00:00I saw Stevie and he looked at me in the eyes and I looked at him back.

00:05Stevie was pale probably because of the stress of being in a cup.

00:09It's a pet store, they don't really take care of their waters.

00:12Maybe he hadn't been fed in a while.

00:14There was something about his little face.

00:16He looked kind of like a little goth with his black lip.

00:23He was definitely very shy, was constantly hiding.

00:26With time, he started eating a little bit more as his pellets fell.

00:34He definitely became much more active and curious, just really out of his shell.

00:40He's just very personable, like he loves to see people come up to his tank.

00:43He has like a little butt wiggle with his tail.

00:46Every two to three months, I'll re-scape the tank, add plants, add different rocks,

00:51different decor.

00:54And he has fun with it because with each time, he gets to explore a different little area in his tank.

01:06Some spots of blue started becoming a lot more visible.

01:10But I thought like, all right, he's feeling better.

01:12And then the spots on his body just became enormous until it completely covered him.

01:20I didn't really know what his genes would be,

01:22but I definitely never imagined the blue sea that he looks like now.

01:29Even though he's changed blue, he has his signature mustache.

01:33It's like, oh, he's got a mustache.

01:34He's got a little mustache.

01:35He's got a little mustache.

01:38He has his signature mustache still.

01:45Like, fish bring me happiness.

01:49You see them grow.

01:50You see them interact with you.

01:51They're super smart animals too.

02:20there is some kind of myth that a fish is the easiest pet to get a child.

02:25I actually got my first beta when I was 11.

02:28And I always feel some guilt for that because he didn't thrive.

02:31Like, current fish, they're just an embodiment of

02:35all the things I've learned in the last 10 plus years.

02:39And they're just these small little beings that I never thought I could love so much,

02:43as small as they are.
