00:00Well, things continue to look up for Democrats, as presumptive presidential candidate Kamala
00:04Harris continues her steady rise in the polls.
00:07The recent Silver Bulletin run by pollster Nate Silver found Harris now leads Trump by
00:121.4% on average.
00:14That breaks down to 45.5% in support for Harris and 44.1% in support for Donald Trump.
00:21The model currently predicts a win for Harris, though the margins are far too close to call.
00:26The electoral votes are also predicted to be razor-thin.
00:30Silver recently wrote on X that one heuristic way to look at this is that if Harris winds
00:34up somewhere in between Clinton 2016 and Biden 2020, it makes for an extremely close outcome
00:40in the electoral college.
00:41And that's the model's best guess as to the outcome.
00:44Despite a shakeup within the Democratic Party, after President Biden announced he would discontinue
00:49his White House run, things are looking up on the left.
00:52Harris' popularity has surged, with the candidate raising some $310 million in July alone.
00:59For comparison, Trump's campaign raised just $139 million in July, even following an assassination
01:05attempt on the candidate.
01:07A CBS News YouGov poll also recently found Harris pulling ahead of Trump by 1% nationally.
