Michael Johnson says that the mens 100m final on Sunday was the 'greatest' race he's ever seen.

00:00Last night's 100m men's was the greatest 100m race I've ever seen.

00:09I thought this was going to be five or six guys who could win it.

00:12It should probably come down to the line and it absolutely did.

00:16Five thousandths of a second separating first place and second place.

00:21And most people just couldn't see with the naked eye who won that race.

00:26I could see Noah coming through at the end

00:28and it's typically the athlete that's coming on

00:31that actually is the one that wins when you have a photo finish.

00:50That's crazy.

00:51Doing multiple events at an event like the Olympic Games,

00:54can you talk about that motivation behind doubling or tripling?

00:57When an athlete decides to double,

00:59you're likely putting yourself at a disadvantage

01:03against the competition in one of your events

01:05because they're only going to be doing that one event.

01:08But even if you're running your hardest event or your most competitive event first,

01:13you're still having to now make sure you're not thinking about that other event

01:17and not getting ahead of yourself.

01:19When I doubled in 96, I had to make sure that I wasn't thinking about the 200

01:22before I finished the 400.

01:24So it's a really difficult balance.

01:27I think Stephane Hassan, going for three events,

01:325,000, 10,000, marathon,

01:34what she's really interested in and she's excited about with this Olympics

01:38is the journey, which is the attempt to go out there

01:42and be the best that she can at all of those different events.

01:45So I think she just loves the competition.

01:48She loves competing.

01:49She loves challenging herself.

01:51And I think that if she doesn't win a single medal,

01:54she will not regret her decision.

01:57How do you define the greatest of all time?

01:59For me, the greatest of all time is pretty simple.

02:03You know, if you as an athlete and your career stands out above all others

02:09as compared to the other greats,

02:11I mean, there's a greatest of all time.

02:13You know, you think about, let's say, women's 100 meters.

02:15Shellyann Fraser Price is the GOAT.

02:17Think about somebody like Usain Bolt is the GOAT.

02:19I mean, I would put him up there.

02:21I'd put myself, you know, right there, but I'd put him there

02:24because when you think about me repeating as Olympic champion

02:27three times, 100 meters, 200 meters, world records,

02:30world records that probably, you know, we always say that.

02:33People say that about my record, and he broke it.

02:35But I literally believe that 9.58 in the 100 meters

02:38is not going to be broken in our lifetime.
