00:00We begin in Nigeria, where it's day two of nationwide protests against the rising cost

00:05of living in the country. The outcry has been violence with demonstrators clashing with police.

00:10Amnesty International accuses security forces of killing 13 people in the protests so far.

00:16While day two has seen a lower turnout than yesterday, where thousands took to the streets

00:20in cities across the country. The show of anger pushed authorities to enforce curfews across

00:25northern states including Kano and Borno. It comes as Nigeria battles its worst economic

00:31crisis in decades, with inflation hitting a 28-year high of 34%. Take a listen to what

00:38protesters have been saying. We saw policemen from nowhere with tear gas. They scared us away

00:44with tear gas and they were even shooting on the air. So that was why that scared everybody away

00:50and everybody run for their life. The security outfits, officers, they are manning everywhere so

00:59and I can tell you that there is so much of fear they are trying to

01:03instill in people's hearts for coming out to a protest today.

01:11We requested that each group that will protest has to come to the police and notify the police.

01:18No group has notified the police. The other said protest inside the stadium. We are not

01:23stopping anybody from protesting but look at how they are blocking this place.

01:29I'm outside to show my anger that Nigerian politicians they are not managing our money

01:35very well. There is so much corruption in the system and things must get better.

01:41We are protesting against widespread hunger in the country, widespread inequality, poverty in

01:46the country. We are also protesting against issues around insecurity in the country because

01:52there's a lot of insecurity in the country.
