00:00Imane Khalif left a rival fighter thanking God for avoiding serious injury after facing
00:11her in 2022, nearly two years before sparking a gender row at the Paris Olympic Games.
00:17Khalif beat Italy's Angela Carini on Thursday, she quit 46 seconds into the fight after getting
00:22caught on the nose in the early exchanges.
00:25She was in tears after the fight, saying she withdrew for her safety and that she had never
00:29been hit so hard before.
00:31And she isn't the only athlete to make such remarks after coming up against Khalif.
00:36In December 2022, Khalif beat Brianda Tamara in Guadalajara, Mexico with such force that
00:42Tamara couldn't believe that she had escaped a serious injury.
00:46Months later, in March 2023, Khalif was disqualified before the final of the IBA Women's World
00:51Boxing Championships due to the levels of testosterone in her system, prompting Tamara
00:56to speak out.
00:58This was Imane Khalif fighting in Mexico in December 2022 against a Mexican woman.
01:03Three months later, a test revealed the XY chromosome.
01:08Note the force of the punching.
01:10She wrote on X at the time, when I fought with her, Khalif, I felt very out of my depth,
01:14her blows hurt me a lot.
01:17I don't think I had ever felt like that in my 13 years as a boxer, nor in my sparring
01:21with men.
01:22Thank God that day I got out of the ring safely, and it's good that they finally realized.
