The Paris Olympics saw a controversial incident in women's boxing when Italian athlete Angela Carini abandoned her bout against Algerian fighter Imane Khelif just 46 seconds into the match. Competing in the 66-kilogram category, Carini ended the fight after a punch forced her to adjust her headgear and ultimately withdraw. Despite this, Carini asserted, "I didn't give up, but a punch hurt too much, and so I said enough. I'm leaving with my head held high."
