00:00Hey, I'm Nancy and that's my boyfriend Dale.
00:08And just over three years ago in September 2020, we found a narrowboat on Facebook and
00:13decided we wanted to make her home.
00:15The boat was called Nature's Bounty and was in a marina in Devizes near Bath.
00:20We weren't actually allowed to visit the marina because we were in the height of lockdown
00:23and we were from out of the area.
00:24So decided to take the plunge and just buy the boat without ever seeing it in the flesh.
00:29We did however get the boat out of the water to get a survey and make sure there were no
00:32major issues.
00:33Then in November, got to meet her for the first time and yes, it was love at first sight.
00:41Like literally L-O-V-E.
00:44Then after a freak flood caused by the marina doing work on her and a total strip of the
00:49boat right down to the bare steel, we'd finally done it.
00:53Well, all we had was a toilet, a camping stove and a fire, but still we'd done it.
00:59A fresh lick of paint and a few tip runs later, we were desperate to get back closer to London
01:03so that we could start making this boat a home.
01:06Except we'd never driven a 50 foot boat before, or any boat for that matter.
01:11After endless YouTube videos and a bit of Dutch courage, we set sail on the 30th of
01:16April 2021.
01:18We knocked our chimney off on the bridge as we left the marina, but 120 locks, 136 miles
01:25and lots of tears and lots of laughter later.
01:28We arrived in London a month later on my birthday, the 29th of May.
01:34I obviously have a massive backlog of all the footage from our journey from Devizes
01:39to London.
01:41And the boat, now named the Peak Boat, is transformed and stunning, if I do say so myself.
01:48It was a life changing decision and although I feel so blessed, it hasn't always been easy.
