Qatar's flagship Al Jazeera TV said its reporter Ismail al-Ghoul and cameraman Ramy El Rify have been killed when their car was hit by an Israeli airstrike.

They were in Gaza City to report from near the house of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Tehran early on Wednesday (July 31).

00:41Al Jazeera said they had earlier informed their news desk that there was a strike on
00:44a house near to where they were reporting and were told to leave immediately.
00:49Their car was hit as they headed towards Al Ali Arab Hospital.
00:54In a statement, Al Jazeera media network called the killings a targeted assassination
00:59and pledged to pursue all legal actions to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes.
01:05The Gaza government media office said the new deaths raised to 165 the number of Palestinian
01:11journalists who were killed by Israel since October 7.
