Today, us and our members are devastated, disappointed, and completely caught off guard
00:06
with the response to us sharing our stories, over 7,000 submissions, and only 13 recommendations
00:15
accepted. It's completely disproportionate to the scale of the neglect and abuse that
00:22
has been experienced and shared, and we didn't reel in that trauma and violence for our benefit
00:29
but we wanted to see meaningful change, and there isn't a clear timeframe for that happening
00:35
to really make sure that this doesn't happen again. But the Israel Commission will always
00:42
stand testament to the terrible things that happen, and why as a community it's incredibly
00:47
important that we do find a path forward. Our stories have filled three volumes of this
00:55
report, and we do welcome the $117 million commitment. There's not going to be enough
01:01
to make the difference that's needed to recognise the vision that was shared through the Royal
01:06
Commission of a fully equitable and inclusive Australia.
