Massive Wildfires Ravage Multiple Western States and Canada, Scorching Hundreds of Square Miles and Putting Millions at Risk

Wildfires across the western US and Canada have put millions of people under air quality alerts, as thousands of firefighters battle large blazes. The largest fire is the Park Fire in Northern California, which has burned over 550 square miles and contributed to poor air quality over a large area. The Park Fire is only 12% contained but cooler temperatures may help firefighters who are battling the fire. A fire in the Sequoia National Forest in Southern California consumed over 48 square miles and impacted the small community of Havilah, leading to evacuation orders for its approximately 250 residents. Fires in eastern Oregon and eastern Idaho, collectively known as the Gwen Fire, covered an area of over 40 square miles.
